Monte do Mata Mouros
On the rocky slopes of the foothills of Serra d'Ossa , where once there was dust, rockroses, small oak trees and arid land, are now planted four hectares of vineyards. A vineyard that resulted from the effort, dedication and perseverance of all those that, under the Alentejo’s relentless sun, rewarded us with their work and sweat.
The Sociedade Agricola Jorge Rosa Santos & Filhos Lda, is the family-owned company that manages this farm.
By the hand of the Rosa Santo’s Family and three winemaker brothers, the EXPLICIT and IMPLICIT wines were born.
Located in southern Portugal, the plains of the Alto Alentejo, from Borba to Portalegre sub-regions are subject to the influences of the São Mamede mountain range to the east. Its continental climate creates very hot summers with low rainfall and very cold winters. Vineyards and cork trees dot the landscape. The most well-known white varieties in this region are Síria and Arinto. Red varieties are Trincadeira, Aragonez (Tempranillo) and Alicante Bouschet.
The white wines of Alto Alentejo are generally delicate, with tropical fruit aromas and mineral notes. Reds are full bodied, with smooth tannin and aromas of berries and ripe red fruit.
