Outstanding ratings for Donnafugata wines in Wine Spectator
Donnafugata from Sicily has once again impressed the wine world, with two of its Icon Wines receiving excellent ratings in the renowned wine magazine Wine Spectator. The Mille e Una Notte 2019 was awarded an excellent score of 91 points. This wine, primarily made from Nero d'Avola, is further enriched with Petit Verdot and Syrah, and carefully aged in French oak barrels and in bottle for optimal flavor development. With its rich notes of berries, plums, and a long, soft finish, Mille e Una Notte reaffirms its status as a true icon among Italian wines. The label of the wine is inspired by the palace where Queen Maria Carolina sought refuge, giving the wine a fairytale-like allure, referring to the story of One Thousand and One Nights.
Additionally, the Ben Ryé 2021 Passito di Pantelleria has also garnered high praise. This dessert wine, made from Zibibbo grapes from the island of Pantelleria, received the prestigious 3 Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso. Ben Ryé, with its brilliant amber color and refined aromas of apricot, orange zest, and Mediterranean herbs, offers a unique experience of sweetness and freshness, perfectly balanced with the minerality of the volcanic island where the grapes are grown.
Both wines underscore Donnafugata's commitment to quality and innovation, further enhancing their reputation in the international wine world.
