Pilar García, responsible for the winemaking process of, among others, the Valmoro wines in Rueda, was named Rueda Winemaker of the Year by Tim Atkin last week. The announcement took place during the international wine fair Prowein 2024, where the prestigious Master of Wine and British journalist bestowed the honor upon García. This recognition rewards García's work at Bodegas Álvarez y Díez for over twenty years. This award, created by Atkin himself, underscores the quality of the wines of this winery in the D.O. Rueda. Bodegas Álvarez y Díez, founded in 1941, owns 100 hectares of its own vineyards that reflect the unique character of the area. The recognition of García's craftsmanship and dedication is a source of pride and confirms the ongoing efforts for quality within the company.
